3 out of 5 stars Behold- the most boring set from this line of figures.   December 4, 2005

I can't stress how much I love the Galactic Heroes line of figures. It's a shame that I'm just now getting into them, a few years after they've started up, and have missed some of the cooler ones like Darth Maulester. Needless to say, I'm ashamed as a Star Wars fan for missing out on collecting these guys. But I'm snatching everyone that I see, especially now that they're no longer being made. That's a point that should really be made right now, as you can see by Amazon not having the Add to Cart option. But enough about all that, onto the 2-pack of Yoda and Palpatine, what would normally be a cool set. Sadly, that's not the case this time around, and if you're looking for a cooler battle to have the two in, I suggest sticking to the Unleashed versions.

Of the Galactic Heroes figures I have, Palpatine and Yoda take the cake as beng the most boring. Yoda is stuck in one pose, and you can only move Palpatine's right hand, as dirty as that sounds. It doesn't give me much to work with in this review, and I don't see how kids from 3-8 years old would get much out of them either. At least they got the size right- Yoda's less than half the size of Palpy here, and his lightsaber fits him as well. Oddly enough, Palpatine is one of the bigger figures, just barely smaller than IG-88. Weird. He's also the heaviest, being a completely solid plastic figure. You know how most figures have slots in their feet for future playsets? He has none, thus making him heavier and sturdier. My Palpatine has a pretty shoddy paint job as well, and I'm distracted by how he has 4 fingers. At first, I thought this was just the style on certain figures, but I guess it's the standard for any Star Wars character who doesn't have the regular 5 fingers (Droids that normally have 5 now have 4, etc.). As you can see, I'm talking about Palpatine the most, which is because there isn't much to Yoda. He looks cute, and that's about it. Actually, now that I really look at him, he looks like a combination of Gizmo from the Gremlins movies, and Emmanuel Lewis of Webster fame.

For some reason or another, I gave the educational value of these figures a 3 mostly because parents who are Star Wars geeks like me, will be able to give their kids a short history of how Palpatine went from a standard old guy to the deadliest force in the galaxy, and how Yoda just up and left the fight with him, making him nowhere cool as he was when only the original trilogy was around. Poor Yoda...he so could've won if he had actually tried instead of just playing defense. I also gave the durable rating 4 since the only thing that you can break on these toys are the lightsabers. The rest of them is/are sturdy. Definately pick these up if you spot them at any toy section at the store, as they're one of the most popular packs for the Yoda factor.
